A New York Times article in 2010 started us all thinking about Vitamin D deficiencies:
- Studies since then have shown that Vitamin D is often associated with decreased risk of colorectal cancer;
- A top surgeon in the UK hands out Vitamin D supplements to women, believing it will reduce their chances of developing breast cancer; and
- Recently, research also suggests that vitamin D may provide protection from osteoporosis, hypertension (high blood pressure), cancer, and several autoimmune diseases.
