My Detoxification Cleanse Rights Itself

So, back on track with my SuperGreens and vegan protein breakfast mix. I was near the co-op today (Seward Co-op) and took advantage of having a freshly juiced totally green vegetable drink called "Salad in a Cup."

Another positive...

Saying good-bye to coffee, which actually makes me a little sad. However, I can feel the coffee churning around in my system, too. Yes, all right! I had trouble letting go of that, too, but it's the last surprise--Really, it is.
So, I have a few coffee beans left that I don't want to waste but I want to be done with coffee for now. My rationalization is to take just one cup of coffee per day (down from WAY more than that), and wean myself off it. It's working pretty much how I expected: mild coffee headache, less acidic coffee churning up my system and a better cleanse.
I figure I need two or three cups (at least!) of SuperGreens to just begin balancing out the negative effects of coffee, but I'm committed to eliminating coffee and having a more alkaline diet as an outcome from my cleanse. So, goodbye coffee, hello tea. I'll be expanding my tea collection over the next few days, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting Tulsi tea, as an Ayurvedic practitioner recommended that and several others to me (among other recommendations).
Ok, that's all for today, except the ratings...

My Self-Ratings March 28:

pH Level: 6.65--back down... Remember, salivary pH strip testing is not super accurate, so this is only a guide (From oral pH strips available from InnerLight... 6.75-7.00 is good for saliva, 7.365 for blood)
Energy: 5 and not so sick--more energy and still detoxing (0=No Energy, 10=Maximum Vibrant Energy [my comparison will be to when I used to run marathons])
Back Pain: 2.5--still there and yet the
inversion board seems to help (0=No pain, 10=Most Pain--go to the ER)
Weight: -2.5 pounds--Lost another pound over the last 24 hours... that helps keep some motivation going! (I'm keeping the actual weight to myself, but I publish the change--btw, it's not about weight, but I want to put this measure in to show the changes that are possible.)

A Slip in My Detoxification Cleanse

Okay, so yesterday my cleanse was going so well, and then I "decided" to have a single grilled Italian sausage at dinner last night. I immediately regretted that and could feel it churning around in my stomach, screwing up the alkaline-acid balance I'd worked on for just over two days.

Why Did I Do That?

Basically, I fooled myself into thinking told I was being deprived.
I was sitting with two family members and they were eating, and I wanted to connect, and I also wanted to taste the sausage. I remember the sensation... Not really a physical feeling, but an emotional one that I started imagining to be pain.

It Really Wasn't Pain

A short meditation would have reminded me of that--that it wasn't really true pain--but that what I actually wanted was to connect to my dinner-mates and the taste of sausage!
Again, some mindfulness or meditation would have solved the problem and let me continue on with my cleanse without slipping--BECAUSE I could still connect with my family AND stay on my cleanse, knowing that positive results would come from both.

Well, I concentrated on the guilt feelings afterward--in the sense of noticing them, but not interacting with them--and it came to me that my slip came and now it had gone.
It allowed me to just move forward in the same cleansing direction as I was going. I didn't "ruin" anything and didn't need to catastrophize, which would simply cause more emotional pain.

My Detoxification Cleanse

My cleanse is going well and as expected, as you can see from the slight improvements in my self-ratings at the end of the blog. I found myself wanting to go to sleep earlier than usual last night, so I did, and because I'm on vacation, I slept until I felt rested and wanted to wake--about ten hours. I expect that my sleep needs will get to about seven hours per night after then cleanse (based on my past results).

What am I doing to Cleanse?

Someone emailed a question for what I'm using on my cleanse. Thanks, and here's what I'm doing:

1. Four to five liters (or more) of water spaced throughout the day with:
  • Three scoops of SuperGreens
  • A dropper full of Prime pH
  • For "mealtime" liters, I add 2-3 scoops of InnerLight's SuperSoy Powder or 1 scoop of Vega One Nutritional Shake (see www.myvega.com--strictly speaking, this is not green, but I do it just to mix things up for variety).
2. Then I take these supplements from InnerLight, also with the "mealtime" liters:

3. I also had a bowl of pureed broccoli for lunch and a bowl of pureed spinach with dinner--both of which are allowed on Dr. Young's and InnerLight's recommended cleanse system.

My Self-Ratings March 26

So for this week, I'm taking subjective ratings to measure my progress:
pH Level: 6.65--a little better... salivary pH strip testing is not super accurate, so this is only a guide (From oral pH strips available from InnerLight... 6.75-7.00 is good for saliva, 7.365 for blood)
Energy: 3 and sick--more energy but definitely detoxing (0=No Energy, 10=Maximum Vibrant Energy [my comparison will be to when I used to run marathons])
Back Pain: 4--still got lower back pain but markedly better, I plan to use an inversion board for stretching later today (0=No pain, 10 =Most Pain--go to the ER)
Weight: -1.5 pounds--Down 1.5 pounds... typical for the first day of a cleanse but nothing to get excited about yet (I'm keeping the actual weight to myself, but I publish the change--btw, it's not about weight, but I want to put this measure in to show the changes that are possible.)

Dis-Ease & My Detoxification Cleanse

When is the best time for a Cleanse?

I'd been thinking about a cleanse for more than a year, but keep putting it off... there's the holidays, a birthday, a work event or whatever... a lot of times there's nothing "healthy" nearby--meaning I haven't planned well enough or am too lazy
:-)
The truth is: those were my excuses.
Yes, it's harder to cleanse with all that going on, and healthy eating does require some planning time, but basically, there's no best time, so just do it now, right?

Relieving Dis-ease Begins...

Delicious Glass of SuperGreens
Delicious Glass of
SuperGreens
Well, I have a week-long vacation now and ran out of excuses, so I started cleansing yesterday and immediately got sick!

Now, this may seem bizarre if you're never cleansed... why would I start such a healthy activity then get sick?

My body was "holding it together" to get through the stress. That's great for survival and shows how amazing our bodies are, but with few alkalizing activities for balance, acidity built up to affect my energy, weight, concentration and back pain.

Once my body "knew" it had a week-long break coming, felt the stress ease, and had SuperGreens and other alkalizing activities for balance, it could "let go" and start detoxifying from the cleanse.

The result?

For the short-term, I will appear and feel "sick," but that is simply my body purging toxins and acidity, working in a natural way to cleanse itself and improve my health to alkalinity.

Good Salts? InnerLight Salts Spray (Special Price)

A lot of people say salt is bad, but only bad salt is bad. If you put a fish in table salt solution, it will die. Good salt, on the other hand, can be healing to the body.

Salt Seasoning • Electrolyte Replacement • Mineral Nutrient

InnerLight Salts Spray
InnerLight Salts Spray is a high concentration mineral salt solution created through natural sunshine (low heat dehydration) from the waters of the Great Salt Lake. It is a great tasting alkalizing seasoning for all that you eat, and it contains just 1/3 the sodium of table salt. It is great with salads and any cooked dish, but it is not just for flavoring.

Salt is also the body's matrix system for transporting energy throughout the entire human organism. A deficiency of salt is equal to a deficiency of energy. InnerLight Salts Spray helps fight that deficiency and provides a wholesome blend of other essential minerals naturally present in the waters of the Great Salt Lake. Unlike table salt which is sodium chloride, InnerLight Salts Spray also contains potassium, magnesium and other trace minerals and acts as a nutrient for your entire body. For those on sodium restricted diets the InnerLight Salts Spray offer the same wonderful taste with less sodium.

Potassium, sodium and chloride are all considered electrolytes. They function in the maintenance and distribution of water within the body. In addition, they serve the role of controlling acid-base balance, heart contractibility, kidney and adrenal function and vital neuro-muscular activity.

Mineral salts are identical to the elements of which our bodies have been built and were originally found in the primal ocean from where all life originated. We have salty tears and salty perspiration. The chemical and mineral composition of our blood and body fluids are similar to sea water. From the beginning of life, as unborn babies, we are encased in a sack of salty fluid. Without mineral salts there would be no movement, memory or thought and your heart wouldn't beat. In water, salt dissolves into mineral ions, these conduct electrical nerve impulses that drive muscle movement and thought processes. Just the simple act of drinking a glass of water requires millions of instructions that come from mineral ions. They're also needed to balance pH levels in the body.

Many experts believe too few minerals, rather than too much salt, may be to blame for health problems. It's a view that is echoed by other academics such as David McCarron, of Oregon Health Sciences University in the U.S. He says salt has always been part of the human diet, but what has changed is the mineral content of our food. Instead of eating food high in minerals, such as nuts, fruit and vegetables, people are filling themselves up with "mineral empty" processed food and fizzy drinks.

Due to modern farming methods, fruit and vegetables are much lower in minerals than they once were. Meanwhile, table salt is stripped of all minerals save for sodium and chloride. Nutritionist Patrick Holford goes one step further. He claims that high-sodium table salt has more to account for than just high blood pressure and heart disease and can actually create mineral imbalances that lead to health problems. "Minerals work together and need to be balanced," he explains. "For example, potassium and magnesium works with sodium to regulate water balance and nerve and muscle impulses. The more sodium you eat, the more potassium and magnesium you need. Few of us eat enough of these, yet we eat high amounts of sodium in salt. This leads to potassium and magnesium deficiency, where muscles become tight, nerves become over stimulated and you feel more anxious."

As magnesium is involved in maintaining bone density and hormone balance, low levels may compromise bone strength and lead to premenstrual problems. That's where swapping table salt for mineral-rich salt can make a difference.

Great aspects of Good Salt

PMS: Mineral-rich salts can help ease PMS in two ways. The muscle-relaxing effects of magnesium combined with potassium, which helps the body get rid of excess water, can ease water retention and relieve muscular tension.

JOINT PROBLEMS: Minerals have an alkalizing effect on the body. Natural health practitioners have observed that this has an anti-inflammatory effect, easing painful conditions such as arthritis.

BACK PAIN: Whether you eat or bathe in them, mineral-rich salts tend to relax. This is largely due to magnesium, which is needed for muscles to relax. Low levels of magnesium are associated with muscle cramps.

BONE STRENGTH: Unrefined rock salts are rich in minerals needed for bone strength. Apart from calcium, bones use phosphorus, magnesium and other minerals as building materials.

So in summary, InnerLight Salt Spray is a unique alkalizing formula that will enhance the flavor of everything you are eating and you will no longer need to use acidic condiments such as refined table salt, soy sauce, vinegar, miso, etc., to flavor your food. In addition, this product can help to create energy, fight fatigue, alleviate joint and back pain, and help stop sugar and tobacco cravings!

Tony Robbins Explains The Acid Alkalize Balance

Tony Robbins does such a terrific job of explaining the Acid-Alkaline Balance and why it's important, that I want to post this YouTube video again.

He says "Go Green!" several times in the talk, and he's referring to using SuperGreens.

I actually learned all about this in 1998 at his 10-Day Life Mastery course on the Big Island of Hawaii, where he brought in Dr. Young and provided all of us participants (several thousand) with free SuperGreens every day.

Tony wanted us to experience the difference without risk or cost, and I was hooked. That was such an inspiring time for me, and I've used SuperGreens ever since.

Acidification of Coastal Waters - How's Your Personal Terrain?

Some US Coastal Waters Resist Ocean Acidification Better Than Others - How Is Your Body at Resisting Acidification?

View of North America and Acid Levels of Ocean Coasts
CREDIT: NOAA Environmental Visualization Lab & LiveScience.com
NBC Science News and Live Science had this headline recently:
Ocean Acidification Affects Northeastern US Coasts More
Original reports: NBC science News & Live Science.

In the above photo, you can see the tilt toward acidification near many coastal lands, and extreme acidification around certain areas--notice the mouth of the Mississippi River and where the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico occurred, and the northeastern area of the US.

The point of the article is that certain areas are more sensitive to an increase in acidity than others. For instance, the mollusks in the NE could never handle as much acidification as the Gulf has. A previous article noted that the oceans' acidity levels are increasing faster than in the past 300 million years.

This is scary but science is showing this, and it makes me wonder two things especially:
  • A higher and more concentrated acidity level must be harder to solve and coax back to balance once it's gotten out of hand, and
  • How's the internal terrain of your body?

Dr. Robert Young and InnerLight often use the fish tank metaphor, in which the cells of our body are swimming in the fluids of our bodies. Just like the oceans, each peson's body can be affected differently by acidification, but acidification is the root problem.

That's why any effort you make toward alkalizing your lifestyle is good for you.

Steps toward an alkalizing lifestyle can be as simple as avoiding too much stress, getting enough sleep, and/or staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water. And, it can range all the way to a 7-Day Cleanse using green juices and following an Alkaline Eating Guide.

It's been a while since I've taken the 7-Day Cleanse, but I just poured a liter of water and mixed in the Prime pH, SuperGreens, and Alka-Blast.

Wouldn't it be great to get my energy back on track?
